Germany is treating the energy transition, known as the Energiewende, as a high priority. The goal is to increase energy efficiency and expand renewable energy to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and mitigate climate change.

Energiewende began in the 90s and is already showing significant results. Wind energy is the main source of renewable energy in Germany, representing 50.2% of electricity demand in 2020. Furthermore, solar energy has seen a significant increase, representing 12.4% of the country's energy mix in 2020.
